Relationships Can be Tricky, Can't They?

RELATIONSHIPS CAN BE TRICKY, CAN'T THEY?

Relationships can be really tricky sometimes, can't they? Whether it's relationships with our family, friends, with work colleagues, our romantic partners or others, it's not always easy. Maybe we always try too hard for one particular person; feel we are taken advantage of; always end up doing the work; seem to conflict with someone in our family; or maybe the lust has gone from our romantic relationship.

There are so many scenarios and these make relationships complicated and tricky at times. Sound familiar?

It's not helped when we are presented with perfect and blissful pictures of relationships in the media and in films. We might feel we have to live up to those images or feel like a failure or that we're not good enough because our relationships are not like that. If only life was really like that! But it's not, and relationships with others can be problematic, upsetting, distressing, be too much or too little, messy, up and down, one-sided, resentful, hurtful, dependent and a lot of other things too.

While we don't offer couples counselling, we can offer you a space, time and listening ear to explore the relationships that are causing you problems, hurt or anxiety. We can offer a space to talk things over with a trusted and supportive therapist/counsellor, make sense of what's happening in the relationship and work with you to learn and develop new ways of solving problems, communicating and being more assertive in your relationships so you get your needs met too.

We offer a safe, supportive and confidential space in Glasgow city centre to talk things over. Therapists/counsellors go at your pace and therapy/counselling can be short-term or long-term - your choice. Sessions are tailored to you and your needs and we can help you make the choices you need to with regards your relationships.
Get in touch with us to find out what we can offer you and how we can support you with things. Let's work together to make relationships a little less tricky in a safe, supportive and confidential space with our warm, experienced and empathic therapists.

Focus on..... Binge Eating Disorder (BED)   Binge Eating Disorder or BED is often characterised by someone consuming very large amounts of food over short period of time, even if they are not hungry. Although, we often see another form of binge eating that is characterised by an almost constant 'grazing' of food, which may amount to a large volume of food over time. BED is almost 2x as common in women than in men, although gender differences are less pronounced than in Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. BED has been found is all cultures and ethnicities. BED was formally classified in 2014 as distinct Eating Disorder and now has formal classification in DSM-5. Keeping in mind that everyone experiencing BED is different and BED may present differently (we are all different and unique, after all!), some of the signs and symptoms of BED include: * Feeling out-of-control when eating during a binge episode. * Often hiding food (before it has been eaten or hiding empty packets a
