Therapist Tea and Talk Club (Scotland)

Therapist Tea and Talk Club (Scotland)

Are you a psychotherapist, counsellor, psychologist or other mental health therapist in Scotland?

If so, you might be interested in this non-profit community club I am creating for therapists to help us all with costs during the cost of living (and cost of working) crisis.

Read on if interested. Drop me a line if you are even more interested!

This is for the therapists in Scotland. After a recent chat with a fellow therapist, and being aware of the cost of living (and cost of working) crisis many are experiencing, I am launching a community tea and talk group for therapists in Scotland.

Where possible, gatherings with be in-person (Glasgow or Argyll and Bute area although they can be in other places provided they can be accessed via train). There will be some online gatherings too so that others who can't travel to Glasgow or Argyll and Bite can attend.

I have been organiser of a medium scale Scotland-wide networking group previously and dissolved it after 7-8 years. That chapter is over and I am now creating an informal community club for therapists in Scotland.

The community club would offer 3 different low cost gatherings for therapists in Scotland as follows:

* Friends Group/Social Club: meeting for coffee, cake and a chat, make new friends, socialising etc.: £5

* Discussion Group: £10 per group (2 hours, refreshments included)

* Peer Support and Supervision Groups: peer support and supervision £10 per 2-hour group
For now, the main 3 things above will be offered to our little community.

This is non-profit, so any small fee (£5 or £10) is just to (hopefully) cover basic costs (refreshments, electricity etc.).

The first gathering with be in January at our offices in Glasgow city centre and be a FREE Coffee Morning for those who want to join.

This club is aimed at offering offer to help out during the current cost of living crisis. The aim is to establish an informal group who are looking to socialise, make new friends and get involved in some very low cost CPD (discussion groups) and peer support and supervision groups.

If interested, please either inbox your email address or contact me on tttc@mhwell.co.uk or join here: https://form.jotform.com/223133611550039

As I aim to keep it informal and the membership form will take you 30 seconds to complete - basic info only.

It would be great to hear from as many of you as possible.

If you're interested in helping to create this little community club in Scotland, please do get in touch. Please also share with anyone else who might be interested.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Alexandra

Focus on.... Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (or EDNOS)

Focus on.... EDNOS/OSFED Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (or EDNOS) is now increasingly known as OSFED (Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorder) accounts for the highest percentage of eating disorders. EDNOS/OSFED is just as serious and debilitating as any other form of eating disorder and needs to be taken more seriously. Unfortunately, however, in our experience, this is often not the case and many are not given appropriate treatment or support (whether from family, friends, professionals and others) and the condition can deteriorte and even change into another form of eating disorder. WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT EDNOS/OSFED? Then read on..... EDNOS/OSFED is the most commonly diagnosed eating disorder in clinical settings. It has often been described as ‘partial syndrome’; however, in our opinion, referring to an eating disorder as 'partial' presents several problems, namely that the client or patient is denied support. EDNOS/OSFED describes a form eating d...

Self-Care this Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2024 We are almost half way through this Eating Disorders Awareness week 2024 and if you have past, or present, personal experience of an eating disorder or disordered eating, awareness weeks such as these can feel especially overwhelming with all the social media posts; articles, news its's and more. So, it's really important to look after yourself during this awareness week and get some support, where possible, if needed. remember, we are here to support you too, wherever you are in the UK. This self-care or self-help exercise involves making a 'Safe Box' or 'Comfort Box'. Read about how to do this below. Make yourself a 'Safe Box' or a 'Comfort Kit'. This can be very useful during times of distress, overwhelm or when we feel under threat in some way (e.g. anxious, confusing feelings etc.) What you put in your box/kit is up to you; however it's purpose is to provide you with a 'go to...
